Draft Mode: The Revolution
The major innovation of Midjourney V7 is "Draft Mode," a feature that completely transforms the image creation process:
- Natural conversation: Speak or write to Midjourney as you would with a person
- Fast execution: Rapid generation of drafts to test your ideas
- Iterative process: Refine your vision by directly discussing with the AI
Example of use: "I want a logo for a dog shelter, with a cat and a dog touching each other forming a heart, with a minimalist and vector design on a white background."
Draft Mode then offers 4 sketches on which you can build upon: "I want these colors," etc.
Major Technical Improvements
- Increased realism: Images are more realistic than ever
- Fewer bugs/glitches: Reduction of visible AI artifacts
- Improved textures: Exceptional rendering of textures, backgrounds, and illustrations
- Better prompt understanding: Ability to easily handle 5 different subjects and up to 20 specified details
"Enhance" Function
The Enhance function has two distinct roles:
- On a single image: creates a "Strong Variation" in full quality
- On a group of images: creates a "Subtle Variation" in full quality
In both cases, Enhance transitions the image from "Draft Mode" to maximum quality.
Effective Prompting Strategies
- Guiding principle: "Want to see it? Put it in the prompt!"
- Recommended structure:
- Start with the main subject
- Add the setting/background
- Finish with style details
- "Cowbell" technique: Use clever redundancy to emphasize important details
"--draft" Parameter
Not to be confused with "Draft Mode," this parameter allows you to quickly create low-quality versions to save time and credits during the experimentation phase.
Advanced Personalization
- Personalization profile: Create your V7 personalization by rating at least 200 images (the special profile is necessary to use the new v7 & 6.1 versions)
- Moodboards: V6.1 moodboards are compatible with V7
Temporarily Absent Features
Some V6.1 features are not available in this first version of V7:
- Remix (workaround possible via V6.1)
- Character reference (an "omni-reference" function is planned)
- Weights and multiprompting (compensated by better prompt adherence)
- Parameters like "--weird", "--video" (permanently removed)

Note: Midjourney V7 is currently in alpha version and some issues regarding image quality, fidelity, and coherence are being resolved.
